Emoji Drop Privacy Policy
The short version
- Emoji Drop has no accounts, no chat and no free-text fields. You never give us your name, email, photos, contacts or location.
- Your progress (scores, stickers, hearts, your dice-made player name and emoji avatar, your year of birth) is saved only on your phone. We run no servers and receive none of it.
- The game shows optional rewarded videos through Google AdMob. To load them, Google's ad software on your phone collects some device data. Section 3 explains what.
- Children can play. Players under 13 only get ads made for children, with no personalisation.
- We do not sell personal data.
1. Who we are
Emoji Drop is a game made by Yellowbuss, Romania ("we", "us"). We are responsible for the game's data practices as described here.
Contact for privacy questions and requests: [email protected]. Website: yellobuss.ro.
2. Data that stays on your phone
The game saves this in its own private storage on your device. It is never sent to us:
- your player name and emoji avatar (picked with the in-game dice from fixed word lists; you cannot type a name);
- the year of birth you pick on first launch (see section 4);
- scores, best runs, the leaderboard of runs played on this phone, stickers, hearts, discovered combos, a saved run in progress, and your settings (sound, music, vibration).
Uninstalling the game, or clearing its storage in Android settings, deletes all of it. We cannot recover it, because we never had a copy.
3. Ads: Google AdMob
Emoji Drop offers rewarded videos. Watching one is always your choice: for example, to keep going after losing a round, to get extra drops, or to refill hearts. The game shows no banner ads.
The videos come from Google AdMob (Google LLC / Google Ireland Limited). To have a video ready when you want one, the Google Mobile Ads software inside the game loads ads in the background. Google can receive data while you play, even if you never watch a video. According to Google, this software collects:
| Data | What for |
|---|---|
| Advertising ID, app set ID, and other device identifiers | Showing and measuring ads, limiting how often an ad repeats, preventing fraud |
| IP address, used to estimate your approximate location (country or city level) | Choosing ads that fit your region, legal compliance, preventing fraud |
| Device and app information (model, Android version, language, app version) | Showing ads that work on your device |
| Ad interactions (ads shown, videos watched, taps) | Delivering the reward, measuring ads, preventing fraud |
| Diagnostics (crash logs and performance of the ad software) | Keeping ads working |
Google handles this data under its own policies: Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from apps that use its services. The game may also use Android's Privacy Sandbox ad features (Topics and Attribution), which you can control in Android settings.
Your ad choices
- European Economic Area, UK and Switzerland: on first use, adults see Google's consent form and choose whether ads may be personalised. You can change your choice at any time: Settings → Ad privacy choices, inside the game.
- Everywhere: you can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in your phone's settings (Settings → Google → Ads, or Settings → Privacy → Ads).
- If you refuse consent where consent is required, the game may show non-personalised ads, or no videos at all. Everything else in the game works the same.
4. Children
Emoji Drop is made for everyone, children included. On first launch the game asks for the year of birth; no year is selected in advance. The year stays on the phone. We only use it to tell Google how to treat ads:
- Under 13: every ad request is marked as directed to children (as the US COPPA law and Google's Families policy require). Ads are not personalised, and only content rated for general audiences is shown.
- Under 16 (the age of digital consent in Romania): ad requests are marked "under the age of consent". No personalised ads are shown, and the consent form is not shown to the child.
Only Google's ad software receives data, as described in section 3. Google certifies that this software meets Google Play's Families requirements. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Parents or guardians with questions can write to [email protected].
5. Leaderboards
Today the leaderboard shows only runs played on your phone, and it stays on your phone.
A world leaderboard through Google Play Games is planned. When it is available and you choose to sign in to Play Games, Google will receive your scores and show them with your Play Games profile name. Google handles that data under the Google Privacy Policy, and you manage your Play Games profile in the Play Games app.
6. What we do not do
- No accounts, no sign-up, no email collection.
- No access to location (GPS), camera, microphone, contacts, photos or files.
- No chat, no messages between players, no typed names.
- No analytics of our own. Unity's analytics, crash reporting and performance reporting are switched off in the game.
- No sale of personal data.
7. Permissions the game uses
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Internet, network state | Loading the optional videos |
| Advertising ID (AD_ID, Ad Services) | Used by Google's ad software (see section 3) |
| Vibrate | Haptic feedback, which you can switch off in Settings |
8. Legal bases (GDPR)
- Saving your game on your phone: needed to provide the game you asked for (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
- Personalised ads: your consent, given in Google's consent form (Art. 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw it at any time in Settings → Ad privacy choices.
- Non-personalised ads, ad measurement and fraud prevention: the legitimate interest in funding a free game and keeping ads safe (Art. 6(1)(f)), or consent where the law requires it.
9. Keeping and deleting data
- We keep no data on any server, because we have none.
- Game data on your phone stays until you uninstall the game or clear its storage.
- Google keeps ad data according to its own retention rules: How Google retains data.
- Emoji Drop has no accounts, so there is no account to delete. Uninstalling removes everything the game saved.
10. Security
Game data stays in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read. Google's ad software sends its data over encrypted connections (HTTPS).
11. Your rights
If you live in the EU/EEA or the UK, you have the right to access, correct, delete or move your personal data, to object to its use or restrict it, and to withdraw consent.
- We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to look up. We are still happy to help: write to [email protected].
- For ad data, use your phone's ad settings or contact Google: Google Privacy Policy.
- You can also complain to a data protection authority. In Romania that is ANSPDCP: dataprotection.ro.
12. Changes to this policy
If the game starts to handle data differently (for example, when the world leaderboard arrives), we will update this page and its effective date. Important changes will also be announced in the game or in its Google Play listing.
